Wean to Finish Team Lead

About this Job:

The Wean to Finish Team Lead is responsible for assisting with the daily aspects of wean to finish production including, but not limited to daily care of wean to finish pigs, wean pig placement, individual and group medication, record keeping, and minor facility maintenance.  This position will require travel among multiple sites within the pig flow group. Bi-Lingual in Spanish and English a plus.

Daily Herdsmanship
Assist with day-to-day care of wean to finish barns.
Assist with the administration of vaccination, and consulting with service staff and company veterinarian on individual and group treatments.
Ensuring accurate pig count, pig placement, sorting, and quality control.
Primary responsibility will be to care for the feeder pigs in each barn through marketing.
Responsible for load in and load out of pigs.
Record Keeping
Ensure all records are filled out accurately and completely and faxed into the Production Records Department in a timely manner.
Responsible for ordering feed in a timely manner from the NFP Feed Department.
Environment and Maintenance
Assist in minor facility maintenance.
Maintain strict bio-security protocol, and consult company veterinarian with questions.
Notify Environmental Manager of any environmental issues immediately.

Create a positive work environment for co-workers by leading from example.
Assign and delegate work on an equal basis.
Assist other team members with time management and production skill development.
Ensure that each employee understands the expectations and performance requirements for his/her job.
Instruct staff on all production records.
Meets regularly with employees for production discussion and problem solving.

Read and interpret procedure manuals.

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school education in swine production; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training.

Interacts closely with the Service Manager and Grow/Finish Supervisor and staff veterinarian.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the farm; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb 4-foot gates, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) medium to heavy weights of 50-75 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and communicate.
