Job Description

The Swine Research Coordinator will oversee and manage all aspects of swine research projects within our organization including coordinating and implementing research studies, managing data collection and analysis, as well as maintaining effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders. The role will also include overseeing the newly designed 2,400-head wean-to-finish research site. Candidate must demonstrate a strong ability to plan, execute, and evaluate research projects effectively.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • 2+year degree in animal science, veterinary medicine, or a related field
  • Proficient English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Know and reflect the core values of Eichelberger Farms
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to summarize information and communicate effectively.
  • Adaptable to company needs and knowledge of industry changes.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Statistical analysis and data visualization experience is helpful but not necessary.
  • 1+ years of animal care preferred.

 

Research Project Coordination

  • Design, plan, coordinate, and execute swine research projects in collaboration the with research team.
  • Develop project timelines, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Oversee the implementation of research protocols and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Coordinate and monitor data collection, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ethical guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of research activities, data, and outcomes.

 

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Develop and implement data collection methods and tools.
  • Supervise data collection activities, including sample collection, feed deliveries, and pig observations.
  • Analyze research data and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and potential areas for improvement based on data analysis.
  • Collaborate with statisticians or data analysts when necessary.

 

Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as nutritionists, veterinarians, and technicians, to ensure the proper execution of research projects.
  • Present research findings to internal teams and external stakeholders, scientific conferences, and industry events
  • Foster effective communication channels to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.

 

Physical Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift feed (approximately 50 lbs.), feeders (approximately 60 lbs.), and weaned pigs (10 to 55 lbs.)
  • Capable of applying approximately 100 lbs. of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed.

 

Schedule

  • Day shift
  • Holidays and weekends on a rotated schedule (only if trials are ongoing)

 

Work Environment

  • Combination of different environments
  • The majority of work will be done in an internal 2,400-head wean-to-finish research site (dusty, loud, live animals)
  • Data analysis and presentation will be done in the office.
