Job Description

TriOak Foods is seeking candidates to become a full time Sow Farm Manager working at our Sunset Sow Farm located near Clinton, Illinois.  The primarily responsibilities for this job would include:

  • Responsible for the management of all production and physical attributes of the unit by successfully carrying out and understanding both core processes and key process measures while demonstrating leadership skills in delegation and completion of tasks.
  • Complete accountability for all operations including planning, budget, production, environment, maintenance, human resources and safety.

Successful candidates will need to be able to perform the following essential tasks for this position:

  1. Manage the daily productions activities for the farm and facilities.  Additional responsibilities over time may include work in the areas of feed manufacturing, environmental management, and regulatory management.
  2. Effectively lead and manage team members to create a strong, stable, skilled team that delivers results.  This could include; promotion of safety, necessary documentation of work-related injuries, creating work schedules, recruiting potential candidates, on-boarding, provide support for discipline, actively participate in terminations and documentation and the development of new team members.
  3. Assist with implementing all company policies, directing and coordinating all farm activities to develop and implement long-range goals, business strategies and objectives to help achieve business and profitability growth objectives.
  4. Manage biosecurity protocols for the location.
  5. Be a leader related to animal care and handling with respect to company operating procedures.
  6. Facilitate timely actions in response to any external or internal production related audits.  This includes audits for the following areas:  safety, electricity, maintenance & general housekeeping, swine handling, bio-security, and general production.
  7. Manage all production records to ensure they are accurate and timely and be able to generate all needed information for additional departments within TriOak that are impacted by the production of the farm. Take an active role in safety program including following safety procedures, enforcement of policy and continued training.
  8. Responsible for ensuring all paperwork and production information is complete, correct, and processed within an appropriate time frame.  Provide Sow Production Manager with any reports and/or production information necessary.
  9. Responsible to maintain a weekly preventative maintenance program, and effectively communicate the farm complex needs to the maintenance manager.
  10. Coordinate necessary livestock movements in conjunction with the Sow Production Manager to maintain inventory and meet production targets.
  11. Responsible for the overall appearance of the farm complex, both internally and externally.
  12. Responsible for maintaining proper feed management.
  13. Take responsibility for the use of ventilation controls including programming.
  14. All other duties as may be assigned.
