Job Description

Senior Sow Production Manager for true multi-generation family farm across multiple midwestern States.

You’ll manage a combination of multiplication/genetic production as well as commercial production.

The Senior Sow Production Manager reports to the Owners and provides leadership in operating the Sow Division to achieve high performance and Company goals.

Primary responsibilities include leading and supporting the Sow Farm Managers with accountability to executing and achieving priorities and objectives.

Essential Job Functions:
• Communicate and company core values and goals to employees
• Provide leadership to your teams through strong communication, proactive prioritization and effective delegation
• Effectively collaborate with Sow Farm Managers, and other Management team members to reach farm and company goals
• Attract, develop and motivate employees while effectively delegating and measuring performance
• Analyze root cause of performance issues and execute action to restore performance
• Collaborate with Sow Farm Managers to define appropriate staffing levels and work to maintain that level consistently
• Participate in onboarding of new employees, and create an environment that is welcoming and promotes their growth and development
• Coach employees on performance evaluations and development plans
• Encourage employee development by identifying opportunities for growth within sow farms and company
• Understand, follow and uphold company Biosecurity Program

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to have difficult conversations and achieve desired results
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Ability to lead others in high demand situations

• Organized with strong attention to detail
• Self-motivated and hard-working

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, move or carry up to 50 pounds and must possess ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the farm

Responsibilities
• Ensure the health and welfare of all animals in terms of nutrition, medication, and environment
• Communicate with veterinarian on a regular basis
• Coordinate overall animal flow and understand its effect on production
• Perform regular employee management, problem solving, and administrative duties (i.e. production record keeping, budgets, handling employee  concerns/problems, work schedules, etc.)
• Lead and direct the farm team in meeting production targets
• Provide development, instruction and constructive feedback to department leads and employees
• Develop and adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and ensure that all employees do the same
• Monitor and resolve all farm maintenance and grounds keeping needs
• Maintain and enforce all biosecurity rules and practices
• Report monthly onsite effluent levels to State Regulatory Agency
• Aid in hiring new personnel

Requirements
• We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to inhumane treatment of our animals.
• Knowledge & enforcement of the latest industry biosecurity practices must be observed and enforced throughout the farm.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of and ability to follow company policies and procedures precisely
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• 2-4 year agricultural degree preferred
• 5+ years’ experience in management required
• Must possess organization, leadership, production, problem solving, and communication skills
• Ability to use a computer effectively, including Microsoft Excel, Word, & Outlook
• Experience with Metafarms preferred
• Ability to multi-task
• Positive, friendly, and respectful demeanor at all times
• Regular, consistent attendance required with flexibility in hours. Must be willing to work some weekends.
