Senior Maintenance Technician

About this Job:

The Maschhoffs, the largest family-owned hog production network in North America, is currently hiring a full time Senior Maintenance Technician to be responsible for day to day repairs and maintenance on company owned sow farms located in the Indianapolis, Indiana area!

Typical Duties of a Sr. Maintenance Technician include:

  • Evaluate future facility and equipment requirements, upgrades or replacements
  • Complete detailed one trip material list and needs for assigned work orders
  • Diagnose and provide plausible solutions for electrical, ventilation, and other facility challenges that arise throughout the company owned/leased facilities; collaborate and closely align with farm managers and staff on issues to ensure a seamless working relationship.
  • Develop and train Level I and Level II technicians on various skills using best management practices and assign work orders as needed.
  • Review Level I and II completed work orders to ensure they are completed to internal or external customer’s satisfaction.
  • Lead a small team of technicians for small projects
  • Ensure that all the best management practices are consistent with commonly accepted standards for animal welfare.
  • Ensure that routine maintenance work is conducted in a manner that safeguards the environment, maintains regulatory compliance and emphasizes like-new results after completion.
  • Promote and solicit employee safety training to create a safe working environment using best safety practices.
  • Research ways to gain efficiencies in daily maintenance and repair costs; communicates these efficiencies to Level I and Level II Technicians


Associates degree or Trade school certificate/diploma in construction, electrical or similar areas of study.


Minimum of 5 years of repair and maintenance experience preferably within the swine industry

3 additional years of experience may be substituted for the Associates degree or Trade school certificate/diploma.

Must have a clean driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1) Knowledge of:

Operating and servicing equipment, i.e. tractors, backhoes, and ATV’s
Electrical, plumbing, and ventilation systems
Microsoft Office Suite
Maintain complete and accurate records

2) Skill in:

Welding and Fabricating
General Carpentry

General computing and the ability to manage workload through mobile handheld devices.

Work on rotating weekend shifts\ 24-7.
Maintain Confidentiality
Able to lift 50+lbs.
