This position will service customers around the Omaha, NE and Sioux City, IA area. May require some overnight travels. This role reports out of the Emmetsburg IA office and could include trips to that office for meetings.
Position Summary: The Junior Sow Production Supervisor position will be responsible for providing oversight of breed-to-wean operations; sow farm asset management; employee development and management; and hitting key performance indicators and budgets for Standard Nutrition Services (SNS) managed farms as assigned by the Senior Sow Production Supervisor. This key position will require collaborative interaction with the Senior Sow Production Supervisors; customers and stake holders; and cooperating affiliate departments such as human resources, nutrient management, nutrition, veterinary services, transportation, repair & maintenance, and feed manufacturing. A priority will be to lead farm managers in achieving established goals, budget & compliance metrics. Sow Production Supervisors will troubleshoot facility and production issues along with other administrative functions, including recruiting, budgeting, and protocol and policy compliance and validation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Production/Asset Management
Directs the execution of established protocols, procedures, and audits necessary to establish expectations and ensure execution of such.
Utilizes and become proficient in platforms for operations management, feed management, and record keeping.
Collaboratively develops production protocols with the assistance of support staff as needed.
Coordinates/schedules monthly on-farm sessions with veterinary and supervisory staff.
Is proficient in environmental ventilation, facility care, feed and nutrient management.
Accountable for production, asset, and financial metrics established for assigned farms.
Provide leadership to direct reports through strong communication, planning, priority setting and delegating, routine coaching of management behaviors, performance recognition and accountability. Area of focus include, but not limited to, production/animal husbandry, biosecurity/health, welfare, asset management, safety and environment
Assemble and lead manager, farm, and formal training meetings ensuring consistent messaging within the organization and recognition for individual, team and company achievements.
Identifies candidates for growth to key positions and is influential in a solid mentoring program.
Ensure that the company vision, purpose, and core values are understood by entire chain of command. Represents SNS positively and professionally both internally and externally within our communities
Regular and formalized communication to management and staff via reporting platforms, farm visit reports, email and verbally.
Provides processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting by all production management staff.
Ensure the personnel management system is properly executed to drive performance, reinforce positive behaviors, and enhance leadership and career development.
Collects information and data for critical analysis internally as well as seeking key sources for “Best” production practices for review and protocol/process updating.
Assist in development of the operating budget including general revenue and expense expectations as well as annual capital improvement plans and investments

Must have insurable driver’s license. Will work at farms in and around Omaha/Sioux City area. Reports out of the main office in Emmetsburg. Some overnight travel may be required.
