Ag Research Technician II – Swine

About this Job:

Responsible for the Nursery phase of Swine production and research. Duties include overall care and management of the nursery phase of production. Cleaning and maintenance responsibilities, ventilation adjustments, movement and relocation of animals from the farrowing area at weaning to the nursery and then to the grow/finish area. Position will cross train and learn farrowing procedures as to help in times of research data collection. This position will also help in all areas of the Swine Research facility involving data collection as needed. Other duties as assigned. Completion of Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) and Transportation Quality Assurance (TQA) training programs required within 3 months of hire. Position is located at the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center by Mead, NE.

Requirement:

Associate’s degree plus two years agricultural experience; equivalent education/experience considered. Experience working with animals. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
