OVERVIEW

The Product Manager will support the Commercial Brand Manager with project management and implementation of commercial product initiatives. The Commercial Product Manager will also work closely with other Marketing staff in the tactical implementation of projects related to product and program development.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Support the Brand Manager in the development of the commercial product portfolio including beef, swine, dairy and other species. * Assist in implementation of business plan for the assigned species including brand marketing strategies and processes to maximize effectiveness. * Assist in identification and development of products and programs to match customer and market needs through market and consumer research. * Provide project management oversight on a variety of projects related to development of products, packaging, promotional activities, literature and POS materials. * Support the necessary educational requirements of the sales and marketing teams with regard to commercial products and programs. * Ensure activities are clearly and effectively communicated and understood by relevant stakeholders within the Kent Feeds organization. * Work closely with vendors/suppliers to source required materials, maintain quality standards and meet delivery deadlines.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or combination of some college and work experience required. * 1-3 years of experience in account or vendor management required. * 1-3 years of professional experience with livestock or animal science required. * Training and experience in project management preferred. * Excellent interpersonal, analytical, written and oral communication skills. * Effective use of computer technology including Microsoft Office applications. * The ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-changing environment that requires a high degree of multi-tasking with minimal supervision. * Demonstrated ability to provide effective support on a broad range of activities requiring attention to detail.

The Ontario Pork Industry Council (OPIC) is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to improve the viability and sustainability of Ontario’s pork industry. OPIC is seeking an experienced individual to provide leadership in the execution of projects that advance biosecurity and emergency preparedness for the Ontario Pork Industry. Reporting to the OPIC Managing Director, the Project Coordinator will work with volunteer Board of Directors and committees to guide project development.

Qualifications:
• University graduate
• Five or more years experience in animal health and/or research
• Extensive knowledge of biosecurity principles and swine health issues including disease prevention, monitoring, intervention, elimination and epidemiology
• An interest and understanding of emergency preparedness principles and the relationship to biosecurity and traceability
• Experience setting budgets, managing projects and developing and implementing programs
• Experience working with research teams, industry and producer groups and a Board of Directors or equivalent
• An established network within government, academia and the Ontario swine industry
• Well developed communication skills
• The ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal supervision
• Proficiency using MS Office software

This position is a flexible term contract position, to be paid commensurate with hours worked with the possibility of a future full-time position. Some travel will be required.
