Territory Sales Manager – Swine

About this Job:

This position is responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy required to achieve revenue and profitability targets in the assigned territory, accounts, and product lines.

Responsibilities include driving new business, building customer loyalty, ensuring high customer retention rates, implementing improvement plans for sales productivity, market penetration, sales turnover, and targeted product placements.

This position requires a skilled negotiator, a motivator, and someone who possess analytical, organizational, and outstanding communication skills.

Duties:

  • Execute sales efforts in the assigned territory, accounts, and product lines. Ensure favorable negotiation within the realm of authorized levels of pricing authority. Effectively manage execution of contracts.
  • Conduct one-on-one sales with potential customers through field visits and on-site demonstrations.
  • Ensure potential customer and customer contact information are maintained and updated.
  • Close new business accounts with corporate senior management, dealers, co-ops, and commercial applicators.
  • Manage sales working with potential customers prior to sales, and customers at all times during the sale as well as follow-up after the sale.
  • Work with internal support groups (Finance, Operations, etc.) to facilitate an orderly sales process.
  • Develop and supervise the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs. Prepare for and attends exhibits, conferences, meetings, and other local, regional, and national promotional opportunities.
  • Sell to and maintain contact with all accounts. Promote positive relations with outlets, wholesalers, vendors, and other distributors.
  • Participate in the development of operating goals, sales goals and objectives for assigned territory, accounts, and product lines. Recommend, implement, and administer methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the territory, accounts, and product lines.
  • Respond to inquiries and research and resolve problems related to transactions handled by the unit. Serve as liaison with other constituencies in the resolution of day-to-day administrative and operational issues.
  • This person must carry out effective communication with appropriate executives, managers, and stakeholders across the whole VAL-CO organization to ensure that business objectives are met.

 

Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree or the Equivalent in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or Animal Science
Five plus years of working experience of agriculture business structure or live production
Self-starter, and can demonstrate the ability to multi-task
Experience selling through a dealer channel is highly desirable
Proficiency in the use of computer software applications for sales management. Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications is required

Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to deliver presentations in both small group and large group environments. Ability to write reports, recommendations, proposals and other documents for executive business management
Availability to travel extensively when required within assigned territory and to Headquarters as necessary
Possess and maintain driver’s license
