Swine Production Technician Summer Internship

About this Job:

Fast Genetics is currently recruiting for their Swine Production Technician Summer Internship Program. Successful candidates will find themselves working in farrowing to finish production facilities located in the Spiritwood area. Fast Genetics provides a well-rounded summer experience through hands-on learning.

This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions but is not limited to:

• Performing specific department duties and at least a week experience in each department in the facility,
• Performing daily health checks,
• Ensuring feed and water systems are working properly,
• Performing minor maintenance tasks,
• Washing empty pens and prepping rooms for animal entry,
• Perform general farm duties.


The successful candidate would ideally possess the following qualifications and experiences: • Self-motivated and reliable, • Team player, • Outstanding organization and communication skills and demonstrates attention to detail, • Able to manage priorities and solve problems, • Previous livestock experience, • Driver’s license, • Obtaining agriculture based college certificate or other specialized training in agriculture, • Shares in Fast Genetics’ core values.

Wages range from $15.00-$16.50/hr and are based on the successful candidate’s current level of relevant studies and experience. Students will get to partake in Fast Genetics – Genetics 101 course and all Fast Genetics internship students and/or course credit students who are entering or already enrolled in a diploma or degree program in agriculture or genetics at an accredited post-secondary institution are eligible to apply for our Fast Genetics Innovators and Future Leaders in Agriculture Scholarship.
