Summer Student – Full Time (May to August)

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform general animal husbandry procedures
  • Monitor animal health and recognize signs of disorder and report concerns
  • Ensure the biosecurity protocol and Animal Welfare Codes of practice are followed by all staff and visitors
  • Monitor and maintain proper environment using automated control system
  • Ensure accurate records are kept and submitted in a timely manner to head office
  • Responsible to act safely in performing job duties at all times
  • Reporting safety concerns to safety representative and/or Manager
  • Other duties as required
Requirement:

• Post-secondary education in a relevant agriculture field
• Planning and organizational skills
• Quick learner with excellent communication skills
• Able to work independently or collaboratively as a team member
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to teach others efficiently and effectively
• Understanding of hog operations is an asset but willing to train
• Valid driver’s license is required
• Must be willing to travel within Saskatchewan and/or Alberta
