Program Coordinator

About this Job:

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Program Coordinator position will be involved in and provide support and organization to Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation programs and employee event and recognition programs of Iowa Select Farms. This position is located in the West Des Moines office and will require 30 percent in-state travel.

The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation operates unique programs and projects that provide food to struggling Iowa families and children, shows gratitude to members of the Armed Forces and strengthens efforts to find a cure for childhood cancers while improving the quality of life for impacted families.

These programs are: A Special Adventure, Little Free Pantry, Haul Out Hunger, Operation Christmas Meal, Pork Care Package, Project: Food and Fellowship, Hansen Home for Hope (Children’s Cancer Connection), Power Snack and Henry’s Heroes.

This position will ensure all programs are executed and tracked to support the three core areas of the Foundation—hunger relief, military gratitude and childhood cancer—and our commitment to the community care pillar of SelectCare™.

Iowa Select Farms operates numerous programs that reward and recognize employees and contractors of Iowa Select Farms. Responsibilities include managing event assets; organizing Adventureland and Iowa State Fair Days; SelectPride, SelectPride Partner, SelectCare Excellence and Years of Service award programs; planning seasonal gift packs; creating and executing employee engagement projects and other associated communication responsibilities and programs.

The Program Coordinator role will report to the Director of Communications and directly support the Communications team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide customer service and program support efforts to the recipients of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation, including but not limited teachers, food pantry coordinators, family readiness coordinators, community organizations and state-wide nonprofits. Responsibilities include:
    • Outreach and capture orders
    • Accurately track current and historical data
    • Create distribution routes and delivery logistics
    • Conduct delivery and outreach
    • Execute promotion in cooperation with the communications team
  • Serve as a program coordinator and ambassador at all Foundation events, including, but not limited to—Spring Gala, military events, military deliveries, Hansen Home for Hope Back to School Bash, Hansen Home for Hope Holiday Drop Off, Powersnack delivery route, Haul out Hunger delivery route and all Special Adventure program events and trip coordination.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of all Foundation materials (advertising, literature, year-end report, promotions, events, public relations, website and online engagement).
  • Coordinate web page maintenance to ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, photos and videos) is posted regularly on company website within the Foundation section.
  • Post Foundation content created in cooperation with the communications team on company social media channels—Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, content management systems, company website and intranet.
  • Oversee organization and inventory of all program materials—boxes, supplies, clothing and promotional items.
  • Track, log and maintain all Foundation program budgets.
  • Provide support to members of the Communications team who operate employee recognition and reward programs—tracking, organizing, scheduling events and tracking photos/stories for communication programs.

· Adhere to Iowa Select Farms’ animal well-being policy at all times and partnering with Production Well-being team when incident occurs.

· Adhere to Iowa Select Farms’ bio-security policy at all times and fixing violation if issue is brought to light.

· Adhere to Iowa Select Farms’ safety policies and procedures and wear appropriate safety equipment (PPE) for appropriate tasks and work in a safe manner.

· All other duties as assigned.

Requirement:

BA or BS degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related degrees, experience and/or background in Foundation and program outreach work.
At least one year of work experience in public relations or communications.
Candidate must have proven writing and photography skills
Candidate must have strong customer service skills, the ability to articulate well and communicate issues to a variety of audiences.
Candidate must have strong networking and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work well in partnerships involving a wide variety of stakeholders and organizations.
Strong personal initiative, problem-solving skills, creativity and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Must be detail-oriented and have a high degree of accuracy, quality control and thoroughness.
Must able to manage timelines, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Must have fluency in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Experience in content management system a plus (Constant Contact)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be available for weekend and evening work, when necessary.
Have the ability to travel, including a valid driver’s license.
The employee must be able to routinely drive a box van.
Have the ability to regularly walk and stand, sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods of time.
The employee must be able to lift 75 pounds
The employee must be able to, with or without reasonable accommodations, work in all facilities within the requirements of this job description.
