Production Health Technician

About this Job:

Position Overview & Responsibilities                                  

This position will be responsible to work under the direction of company veterinarians, both in production and non-production settings, working with farm staff and farm leaders to animal health objectives are being accomplished.

Major Areas of Accountability

Support veterinarians as needed to:

  • Collect, submit and help deliver live viral vaccines
  • Collect and submit tissues from disease situations
  • Responsible for organization and collection of flow based diagnostics (blood, tissue, laryngeal, rope, swabs) used in flow monitoring
  • Observe and communicate findings on sanitation, biosecurity and health administration protocols to veterinarian staff
  • Work closely with Production Health Administrator to summarize and simplify diagnostic results
  • Conduct inspections of manure, construction, site care or other equipment as required
  • Have a clear understanding of sanitation and biosecurity as it to job function

Time will be spent in all phases of the production system, collecting samples and working with animals.  Physical agility needed.

Some overnight travel will be required: 10%-15%

Requirement:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent desired. TQA, PQA Plus certification is not needed upon hire but is required to perform job. Previous livestock handling preferred. Ability to speak Spanish and English is a plus.

This position requires a high-level of respect for team members and animals. Must demonstrate personal organization and time management skills. Excellent written & oral communication skills and the ability to work well with others and independently is required. This person needs the ability to adapt and function effectively in a fast paced, changing environment. Must have a willingness to learn and the drive to be a trainer, while remaining disciplined, consistent, structured and solution oriented. A successful individual will exercise sound judgement to appropriately identify and escalate issues to ensure compliance at all times.

Onboarding Requirements

This position will require operating a company vehicle, or occasional mileage reimbursement. Any employment offer for this position is contingent upon the review of your motor vehicle record (MVR). The MVR will be reviewed to determine insurability based on CFF’s insurance carrier and company policy.

Vehicle Licensing Requirements: Class D and proof of insurance
