Nutritionist

About this Job:

Objective: Work closely with the formulation team to formulate and implement sow, nursery, and finisher diets for clientele. Will also have direct responsibility as account manager for customer accounts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Independently formulate and manage diet formulas in Concept 5 formulation package to ensure diets are implemented at feed mills in a timely manner.
    * Travel to the field to discuss and review pig performance with clients; evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot issues; identify and implement any necessary adjustments.
    * Keep the Head Nutritionist apprised of all information from the field, ingredient price movements and availability, and outcomes of field trials. Based off the outcome of field trial, present better formulation options so the Head Nutritionist.
    * Work with field staff to ensure quick and concise follow up to any nutritional issues and adjust as necessary.
    * Oversee financial management of designated projects to ensure budgets are met
    * Oversee documentation and reporting activities for the projects in the portfolio;
    * Take part in regular meetings with vendors and other partners to ensure success of programmatic activities; and
    * Provide support to new project development activities, policy outreach and internal capacity building, under the guidance of the Head Nutritionist.
  • Participates in tri-annual nutrition formulation audits by evaluating consistency and identify opportunities for diet formulation improvements, and implement any changes
  • Review formulas on a regular basis to validate correct nutrient and ingredient levels. Make any adjustments necessary to ensure client is receiving their optimal product.

Requirement:

Education: M.S. in Animal Nutrition or Food Science (or related field)

Experience: Nutrition, Grain Science, Research

Noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas

Physical Requirements: Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day

Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling

Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull

Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds

Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move

Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Must be able to print and/or write legibly
