Manager in Training

About this Job:

Professional Swine Management provides a Manager-in-Training program to qualified applicants. The MIT is typically an entry level spot for new graduates in animal sciences or similar agriculture degree. It is a program that includes 20 weeks of classroom and on-farm training. For the remainder of the program, trainees will work through a farm rotation to have maximum exposure to management styles and farm management ranging in size from 2,400 to 6,000 head farms. After completion of the program in 12 to 14 months, candidates are expected to run one of our sow farms.


The Manager in Training is responsible for learning the procedures and protocols from the Farm Manager and other team members in carrying out the daily responsibilities in caring for the welfare of the animals, including feed, water, and management skills. The Manager in Training reports directly to the Farm Manager and works with the team of farm employees to learn and facilitate all areas of production. This position will participate in all phases of production to produce high quality animals in the most productive manner.
