Livestock Manager

About this Job:

Simmermon Farms Inc. is a family farming operation which includes a Farrow to Finish Hog Operation, small Club Calf Herd, and Grain Operation.

We are currently seeking a Livestock Manager for our operations in Lapel and Anderson Indiana.

The Livestock Manager will work multiple tasks in various company hog sites, to optimize animal care, health and efficiencies in this stage of production, and maintain sites per Simmermon Farms protocols, as well as assist with the Grain Operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to Farms Manager
  • Hog Operations (Manage Finishers/Anderson Farrowing/Weaning)
  • Daily walk through of sites to monitor herd health and welfare as assigned by Operations Mgr.
  • Reference Chore List Daily/Part of weekend chore rotation
  • Vaccinate, treat & work with sick and injured animals
  • Assure proper feeding and watering of animals at sites assigned
  • Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation
  • Weekend work rotations as established by Operations Mgr. will be required
  • Responsible for loading out and loading in new hogs
  • Responsible for cost saving improvements in livestock operation
  • Closely communicate with Farm Manager in regards to herd health issues
  • Manure Management/Help with Grain Operation
  • Will be cross trained to help throughout farming operation
  • Manage Livestock Support Employee
Requirement:

Qualifications:

Agricultural background with management and livestock experience.
Must be a highly motivated self-starter and team player
