Christensen Farms is one of the largest, family-owned pork producers in the United States, marketing approximately 3 million hogs per year. The company is vertically integrated with a strong presence across the pork value chain from farm to fork. Christensen Farms is the largest shareholder of Triumph Foods LLC, a producer-owned primary pork processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. In turn, Triumph Foods members own 50 percent of Daily’s Premium Meats, a specialty pork processor of bacon and other premium pork products.  Triumph Foods also holds a 50 percent partnership in Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa, a primary pork processing plant.

Position Overview & Responsibilities    

This position has primary responsibility for many administrative duties required to support a proactive Human Resources Department. The primary duty of the position will be to respond to and manage any leave request to include identifying the appropriate leave based on the situation in line with any state or federal requirements.  The HR administrator will be expected ensure good communication with the employee on leave and their manager regarding any leave situation.  This position will also provide administrative support to the other functional areas of the HR department.

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Primary responsibility for the day to day administration of all leave programs such as FMLA, ADAAA, and other state required or company provided leave of absences. This includes being responsible for timely sending of any necessary letters, tracking of the leave request, ensuring good communication with the employee and manager and maintain the LOA files with all necessary/required documentation.
  • Auditing of personnel action form changes following the entry of those changes to ensure there are no errors.
  • Scanning and filing of employee documents to be saved in the appropriate file.
  • Responsible to sort and deliver HR mail to the appropriate individual’s inbox.
  • Maintain and manager HR Fax and distribute faxes to appropriate individuals.
  • HRIS training entry (monthly safety topics, manager training sessions, etc.)
  • Provide administrative assistance and support to the benefits and payroll departments.
  • Train and serve as a backup for the Work Comp Admin and Benefits Administration.
  • Train and participate in the receptionist rotation coverage.
  • Assist with any employee mailings or employee benefit/payroll/injury packets.
  • Assist with weekly reporting requirements (turnover reports, change log, etc.)
  • Respond to requests for employment verifications

Minimum formal education required: High School diploma required.

Minimum number of years of prior job experience required: The ideal candidate with have 1-2 years of administrative experience with some exposure in the HR field. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Personal Requirements: The candidate must have the judgement and integrity to handle sensitive, confidential HR information and have the ability to balance priorities within a fast-paced environment. Must also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively.
