GENERAL JOB STATEMENT
The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the finishing and wean to finish swine production for specific flows in company managed swine units and contract wean to finish and finishing growers. The individual will ensure that daily grower practices comply with company policies and relate to profitable swine production. Service Managers oversee the health status of the wean-to-finish and finishing facilities, and establish and maintain wean to finish and finishing production targets and goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cultivate a Positive Relationship with Growers
Assist growers in determining the most efficient, timely and practical way of pig disposal via composting, rendering, or incinerating.
Consult with growers on spot treating, daily observation, feeder adjustments, and sorting pigs.
Coordinate with growers on arrival of animals, vaccinations, shipping dates and times.
Execute and train to ensure the highest levels of bio-security.
Instruct, train and advise contractor in loading and handling of pigs to avoid injury, bruising, stress, or trim loss.
Represent New Fashion Pork in a positive and professional manner, including appearance of self and company vehicle.
Reward and discipline growers in a reasonable manner and timely manner.
Schedule weekly visits to sites to monitor health, environment, and grower performance.
Supervise, train, and execute to ensure the highest standards of the humane treatment of animals.
Ensure Optimization of Production Facilities
Conduct site audits and offer feedback to growers as well as to New Fashion Pork management.
Ensure proper wash down and sanitation of facilities.
Ensure sights are neat, weed, and rodent free.
Maintain efficient use of buildings for maximum through put.
Monitor, train, and direct contractors to ensure optimal temperature, air quality, and equipment to improve or maintain performance and efficiency.
Monitor upkeep of feeders, waterers, fans, curtains, and all other equipment.
Oversee proper operation of alarm systems.
Proper Record Keeping
Ensure proper record-keeping of pig & drug inventory; forward reports for processing in a timely manner.
If applicable, forward mileage logs, including a detail of all site visits, to payroll monthly.
Maintain open communication with growers, other supervisors, and vets to promote ideas and concerns.
Report escalated issues or enforcement issues that require action to Director of Production.
Transition of Marketing Pigs
Communicate with growers on shipping dates.
Communicate with Transportation Department to determine marketing times to meet target sale weights with minimum sort loss.
Create a positive work environment for co-workers by leading from example.
Define personal and business short and long-term goals.
Positively represent the company at work and in the community.
Other Requirements and Responsibilities
All other tasks and responsibilities as may be required by NFP.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled and required.
Follow all safety rules and practices and encourage co-workers to do the same.
Follow all applicable biosecurity measures per NFP policies.
Regular and consistent attendance.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Able to independently schedule activities.
Able to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to problem solve.
Drive a company vehicle from site to site.
Effective time management.
On call for emergencies; work 2 weekends/month and 3 holidays/year.
Previous experience as contractor liaison preferred.
Read and interpret procedure manuals.
Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism; able to represent New Fashion Pork in a positive manner.
Strong understanding of the company’s production system, or equivalent.
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school education in swine production; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training.
Interacts closely with the Production Manager, Farrowing and Breeding Managers and Nursery Managers, as well as office staff.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the farm; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb 4-foot gates, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) medium to heavy weights of 50-75 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and communicate.
