Business Development Contract Administrator

Christensen Farms is one of the largest, family-owned pork producers in the United States, marketing approximately 3 million hogs per year. Christensen Farms owns four feed mills, manages 145,000 sows on 44 farms, and oversees more than 350 nurseries and grow-finish sites. The company is vertically integrated with a strong presence across the pork value chain from farm to fork. Christensen Farms is the largest shareholder of Triumph Foods LLC, a producer-owned primary pork processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. In turn, Triumph Food members own 50 percent of Daily’s Premium Meats, a specialty pork processor bacon and other premium pork products. Triumph Foods also holds a 50 percent partnership in Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa, a primary pork processing plant.

Position Overview & Responsibilities:

This position has immediate responsibility for the administration and maintenance of contracts in relation to Contract Producer Documents, Pig Care, Central Data System Maintenance, Live Haul Transportation Contracts, and Leases. Internal customers of this position are Business Development Staff, Production Staff, all departments who request information changes to be made to Central Data, and Transportation.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Assisting with the contract approval process and participation in the Contract Approval Committee.
  • Working directly with Business Development and creating new site contracts, contract renewals and contract terminations.
  • Assisting in the documentation of animal welfare issues and notifications as it relates to contract partners.
  • Direct involvement in property transactions to include bare land purchases and site acquisitions. Responsibilities would include but are not limited to generating all related legal documents, working directly with the title company to ensure a successful closing and working with all related departments (i.e. Asset Management, Agronomy, Accounting) for proper site set up in all areas.
  • Maintaining the Independent Contractors and Independent Truckers contract files and databases, ensuring all necessary documents have been signed and received.
  • Ensuring all growers are paid, reimbursed or provided for according to the terms and conditions of their grow-out contracts, including maintaining “Who Pays For What” spreadsheets.
  • Ensuring all contracts and correspondence is drafted to be consistent with company policy, approved terms and rates.
  • Direct responsibility for maintaining and improving the integrity of the Central Data System (a Microsoft Access Database that stores comprehensive data about our many locations).
Requirement:

Education: Associates Degree or Paralegal Professional preferred, or equivalent experience
Other Technical Skills required: Successful candidate must have a solid understanding of legal terms and contract formulation. Must possess strong customer service skills, along with the ability to communicate well; both verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate the ability to influence others and work collaboratively. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle varied degrees of business in any given day. Must be self-motivated, can work autonomously and handle multiple tasks. Computer skills to include database management, use of Excel spreadsheets. Must possess the ability to assert self in difficult and sensitive situations and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Proficiency in MS Office applications and technology required
