Christensen Farms is the largest shareholder of Triumph Foods LLC, a producer-owned primary pork processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. In turn, Triumph Foods members own 50 percent of Daily’s Premium Meats, a specialty pork processor of bacon and other premium pork products. Triumph Foods also holds a 50 percent partnership in Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa, a primary pork processing plant.

Position Overview & Responsibilities                                 

This position is responsible for assisting other Production Technicians in routine animal care and general farm tasks to ensure the welfare and well-being of the animals. Tasks include semen collection, animal feeding and care, farm sanitation, animal removal, and animal training and movement. The Production Technician role will also support the Mission of the Company by providing for the care of all animals at the designated work site

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Follow the requirements and guidelines of the Company’s Safety Program.
  • Maintain and abide by all facility bio-security measures.
  • Abide by all company policies, procedures and guidelines as directed by farm leadership.
  • Flexibility with a willingness to change plans according to the direction of farm leadership.
  • Work as a team player by accomplishing daily department work requirements and farm goals.
  • Assist in moving and collecting boars in an efficient, hygienic, and safe manner.
  • Sanitize and wash multiple areas on the farm using high pressure equipment.
  • Feed, water, vaccinate, and perform general animal husbandry tasks including applying basic veterinary procedures as directed by the farm manager and health team.
  • Maintain accurate production information and update all department records as required.
  • Treat sick animals with prescribed pharmaceuticals by injection, oral application, and/or other methods as required.
  • Assist with maintaining barn, office cleanliness, and laundry duties.
  • Follow the Company’s animal care policies and procedures including: providing a physical environment that meets the animal’s needs, providing access to adequate water and high quality feed, providing humane treatment of the animals, providing identification and appropriate treatment of animals in need of health care and following the guidelines for euthanasia.
  • Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures.
  • Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
  • Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and its application to the specific worksite.
  • Effective communication with teammates and supervisors in order to effectively achieve goals.
  • All other duties as assigned necessary for the care of the swine and/or the swine facility

Minimum number of years of prior job experience required: Entry level, 0-1 year

Previous livestock handling helpful.
Ability to do physical labor required.
Strong commitment to team work.
Willingness to shower in and out of facility
Ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situations.
Must be able to work an average 40 hour week, which can vary frequently.
Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.
Must be on call to work in emergency situations to include but not limited to, power outages or personnel shortages.
