Assistant Sow Farm Manager

About this Job:

We are seeking to fill a full-time Assistant Farm Manager for an indoor/outdoor swine farm in SW, Wisconsin.

This farm is a 300 head breed to wean sow farm located in the rolling hills of SW Wisconsin that includes traditional production practices in both indoor and outdoor settings.


POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting with the care and management of gilt development, breeding, gestation, farrowing and piglet care to assure animal welfare and company goals are met.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with management of all daily activities/processes related to weaned pig production, in accordance with protocols and procedures.

Establish and maintain open communication with all farm staff, production manager, shareholders, veterinarian, and management team.

Ensure that the farm working environment is safe, by utilizing safety equipment, training, and taking necessary actions to prevent hazardous conditions.

Assist with scheduling and prioritizing workload with daily and weekly summaries.

Monitor and maintain appropriate ventilation and barn environments.

Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of records (i.e. Animal inventory, feed inventory, culls, etc.)

Responsible for general farm maintenance and cleanliness.

Conduct regular and routine communication with Farm Manager to assure expectations are understood and farm goals are met on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.

Responsible to follow and enforce all biosecurity policies and procedures.

Assist with management of financial performance by working towards established goals, controlling costs and adhering to previously set protocols.

Requirement:

Experience with farrowing and piglet care is preferred but not necessary. Willing to train the right candidate.
