Assistant Feed Logistics Coordinator

About this Job:

PURPOSE OF POSITION: This person is responsible for ‘Iowa Select Farms’ feed budgeting and ordering. Internal and/or external personnel will determine feeding and management protocols that will be followed for each group.


  • Adhere to ISF animal wellbeing policy at all times and partnering with Production Well-being team when incident occurs.
  • Adhere to ISF bio-security policy at all times and fixing violation if issue is brought to light.
  • Adhere to ISF safety policies and procedures and wear appropriate safety equipment (PPE) for appropriate tasks and work in a safe manner.
  • Handle multiple phone calls, emails and process orders daily with minimum amount of error’s
  • Accessible and responsive to phone calls in a timely manner
  • Multi task and prioritize items throughout the day
  • Setup and management of group feed budgets to insure proper feed from the correct supplier
  • Assist in ordering the correct amount of feed to finish a group out in order to minimize feed transfers
  • Coordinate all feed transfers from closed groups to another appropriate group
  • Assist in identifying sites needing feed to minimize late order charges.
  • Work with sites to have optional delivery day’s to help mills even their daily tonnage out throughout the week
  • Maintain accurate written and computer records as required.
  • Demeanor should be positive and professional at all times.
  • Daily focus should be on success of the company, not personal issues.
  • Attendance is critical. Be at work on scheduled days and be ready to work by start time given.
  • Be friendly, positive, helpful, team-oriented and respectful to co-workers and management team.
  • Flexibility in hours during staffing challenges is required.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the company.

Bi-lingual: Not required

Education/ Experience: Previous experience in swine production operations is desired and a general ability to follow protocols and give attention to detail. Computer literacy is important with competencies in Excel, Word, Access and Internet Explorer.


This person must be able to multi-task and handle stressful situations in a swine production atmosphere. Thus, they must have initiative, organization, and dependability. This person must demonstrate sound time-management skills by effectively and efficiently organizing, prioritizing, and completing multiple assignments in a timely manner. Be able to effectively communicate orally over the telephone. The employee must always present a professional image in dress, language and action at all times promoting trust and confidence in the team and the organization.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds as well as pushing, pulling, bending and kneeling. The employee must have the ability to sit for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee must be able to, with or without accommodation, work in all facilities within the requirements of this job description.
