Swine Disease Control Project Coordinator

The Ontario Pork Industry Council (OPIC) is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to improve the viability and sustainability of Ontario’s pork industry. OPIC is seeking an experienced individual to provide leadership in the execution of projects that advance biosecurity and emergency preparedness for the Ontario Pork Industry. Reporting to the OPIC Managing Director, the Project Coordinator will work with volunteer Board of Directors and committees to guide project development.

Qualifications:
• University graduate
• Five or more years experience in animal health and/or research
• Extensive knowledge of biosecurity principles and swine health issues including disease prevention, monitoring, intervention, elimination and epidemiology
• An interest and understanding of emergency preparedness principles and the relationship to biosecurity and traceability
• Experience setting budgets, managing projects and developing and implementing programs
• Experience working with research teams, industry and producer groups and a Board of Directors or equivalent
• An established network within government, academia and the Ontario swine industry
• Well developed communication skills
• The ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal supervision
• Proficiency using MS Office software

This position is a flexible term contract position, to be paid commensurate with hours worked with the possibility of a future full-time position. Some travel will be required.
