Summary of Duties Assists with the design, implementation, analysis and summarization of experiments involving swine nutrition research; coordinates and conducts analyses of milk, blood and various body tissue for selenium and antioxidants; plans the direction and priority of laboratory analyses for Se analysis and other procedures; assists in collection of tissue samples; assists with the planning and execution of early weaning pig studies at the swine farm; coordinates and assists with daily diet preparation for early weanling pigs at the OSU swine farm; maintains and assists with data entry, calculations, summation and reporting of data generated from swine trials; maintains and records data collection involving feed preparation, swine performance trials, and inventory of feed products; assists with interpretation of data from analytical results; maintains laboratory safety procedures; assists with equipment maintenance; maintains records for funding sponsors; assists in the training of undergraduate and graduate students in learning laboratory methods; and supervises undergraduate and graduate students working with chemicals and equipment in the laboratory.

Required Qualifications Master's degree in animal sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience with planning and designing experiments for animal studies; experience in working in a chemical laboratory using dangerous chemicals; experience with equipment for wet ashing of samples and the flurometer for selenium assays; experience in organizing and maintaining a good laboratory environment; and experience in writing reports and presenting data.
Desired Qualifications Experience in working with young animals, particularly pigs; experience in the involvement of collecting and processing blood and tissue samples from animals and analyzing the collected samples for various biochemical indices; experience in data entry, analysis, and summation.
