<p><b><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Job Overview:</span></b><b> </b>The position of Boar stud technician requires the employee to be available early in the morning to collect boar semen that will be transported to TML customers. There are specific hours and deadlines that must be maintained to support the delivery system that is in place. The Boar Stud Technician will be working with a small team that shares responsibility in caring for the boars, collecting the boars, and maintaining high quality control standards. Bio-security is extremely important and contact with other swine or some other animals is not permitted.</p>
<p><b><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Job Duties &amp; Accountabilities </span></b></p>
<ul>
<li>1. Collect semen from live boars for production of AI doses based on a collection schedule and under a time frame that allows for transport and distribution of doses to customers. These doses will be collected from various genetic lines which may be sorted by EBV value.</li>
<li>2. Understand and maintain all bio-security requirements, which requires showers at entry and exit from all stud facilities.</li>
<li>3. Understand and uphold all quality control standards outlined by the stud manager.</li>
<li>4. Feed boars daily in both the stud and isolation barns based on proper feeding protocols.</li>
<li>5. Sweep feed back into crates from aisles daily to reduce feed wastage.</li>
<li>6. Scrape manure buildup from back aisles of boars into the pit.</li>
<li>7. Pre soap, power wash and disinfect all collection areas, front and back aisles of boar crates and isolation barn rooms.</li>
<li>8. Responsible to help with all boar movements including and not limited to cull boar removal, incoming boar placement or other movements within the stud.</li>
<li>9. Train incoming boars in isolation to collect from an AI dummy.</li>
<li>10. Identify and treat any sick, or injured animals. Give vaccines based on the vaccination schedule.</li>
<li>11. Humanely treat all animals at all times.</li>
<li>12. Help with mortality removal.</li>
<li>13. Record environmental information.</li>
<li>14. Maintain the site by helping with mowing, trimming, snow removal, repairs and upgrades.</li>
<li>15. Draw blood from boars for diagnostic testing.</li>
<li>16. Help with laundry, including washing scrubs, under garments, coveralls and towels.</li>
<li>17. Clean shower areas, lunch room, bathrooms, office and all other areas in both the stud and isolation buildings.</li>
<li>18. Weekend chores based on the schedule determined by the stud manager.</li>
<li>19. Work hours determined by the stud manager.</li>
<li>20. Fill bait stations to control rodents monthly.</li>
<li>21. Ability to listen and willingness to follow protocols</li>
